AQHA Black Stallion & FQHA 91.602%
Kid is
Homozygous Black E/E, Herda N/H, no chestnuts or sorrels out of this boy, no matter the
colour of your mare.
All animals
have some undesirable recessive traits. “Some of the horses that are
carriers are spectacular animals and very athletic, and if you don’t
breed them to a related horse you will never double up the recessive
trait; you’ll never see a problem. It’s not the carrier that’s the
problem. It’s the way we breed them,” says Dr. Winand. If people can
make informed decisions on how they breed these horses, by testing them
first, they can safely continue to breed them, by breeding them to
non-carriers.

BREEDING SEASON OPEN MARCH 1-JULY 31 each year.
Kid Lena's stud book fills quickly, so if you are
looking at breeding a mare in 2012, don't wait too long to book your mare(s). Booking early guarantees you a breeding spot.

Here's Kid finally getting some riding time done. The last 3 or 4
years Kid has only had a couple rides a year. We took him to one
of our 4H functions in May 2010 as his first ride this year, he was a
perfect gentlemen remembering everything he was taught, and even with
mares (atleast one in heat) in the ring with him.

This is a one of a kind grandson of Smart Little Lena, and an own son of
Smart Kidd Dry. He has perfect conformation and disposition and he
passes this onto his foals. He also passes on his brains,
trainability, athleticism, and colour, and so far has thrown 100 % black
(either black, bay, dun, buckskin, or
other black shade). Kid is a calm and smooth ride, and he is quick
to pick up on a cow or anything you throw his way.

Kid in May 2010, here you can see his perfect conformation and muscling
as well as his deep black coat.
Kid is unshown due to an
injury, a pinched nerve that caused him to lose full use of his left front leg.
We did start him again as a 4 year old, and he remembered what we did 2 years
previous, but could not handle too much stress. There has been no buck
in him, or any of his babies so far.
He is extremely smart and remembers everything, he is also an amazingly
smooth ride, like a rocking horse. We are now able to ride Kid
fully without an effects, and he likes working cows in the corral.
It's too late for a show career, but he's sure making a nice ranch
horse, and his babies are proving what a great sire he is.

Here's some pictures of Kid and one of his 2007 colts Patch:

Like father, like son.

In the Pasture June 2007. He has nice big bone and a thick hip and chest,
with a nice short back. Kid loping around in his field.
Kid joined our herd in February 2002. He stands
14.3hh. After working
with him for a couple years we decided he would make the perfect herd
sire. Not only is he jet black, but his conformation and mind is
like that of his grandsire's (Smart Little Lena) and smart he is.
Kid is easy to work with, a pleasure to ride, and a real gentleman with
the ladies.
